Our Story
Vinson-McDonald, Inc. was founded and incorporated by Leonard M. Vinson and W.J. “Mac” McDonald in the year 1979. Original operations began in a leased office space in Stone Mountain, Georgia with primary sales in the metro Atlanta area. After experiencing increased sales and product line the company purchased acreage in Lilburn, GA and built their current office and warehouse. This building houses the sales staff, administration, equipment inventory and specialty fabrication shop.
In 2012, while always striving to provide a broader range of support to our clientele; the company expanded into Electrical contracting. With small staff of one Field Team and a director, the new endeavor quickly grew to over six field teams providing a variety of services. Our customers can now make one call to a single source to call upon a vast variety of service needs from equipment repair to electrical upgrades.
Our Approach
The experienced staff at Vinson-McDonald service a variety of businesses throughout the United States. The company is a multi-line integrator utilizing the expertise and product availability of many of the finest manufacturers in the nation to provide the absolute best system at the most economical investment that our clients can acquire. We work with all elements of a company – from the shipping clerk to the company owner – to ensure the system is designed to fit their present and future needs. Vinson-McDonald maintains a small fabrication shop to provide customization to any of our product lines to enhance Our customers’ requirements.
All installation work is performed by the company’s own non-union personnel in accordance with factory standards, industry code and OSHA regulations. Our Electrical Technicians have been trained by the Independent Electrical Contractors rigid curriculum. All service calls are made in company owned vehicles that are stocked with standard materials to perform the required duties. Many of the Team leads are OSHA 30 certified and regularly attend and teach continuing education classes - all in an effort to provide the excellent customer service our customers have come to expect over the last 5 decades.
